Patients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in a number of ways:
- Use our Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) to send your prescription to your nominated pharmacy electronically. You can find out more about EPS below.
- Prescriptions are only available for collection from the Practice if you have agreed this with a member of our staff.
Please allow 7 days for requests to be processed and ready for collection at your nominated pharmacy.
Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)
We offer an Electronic Prescription Service (EPS), which allows you to choose or ‘nominate’ a pharmacy to get your medicines or appliances from. We then send your prescription electronically to the pharmacy you have chosen.
- You no longer need to collect your paper prescriptions from the Practices, instead you can go directly to your nominated pharmacy, saving you time.
- You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop.
- You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy, as your repeat prescriptions could be prepared before you arrive.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see or speak to a Doctor, Clinical Pharmacist, Nurse Practitioner or a Practice Nurse at least once a year, to review these regular medications. This can be more frequent for certain medicines.
A notification should appear on your repeat slip, so you know when this is coming up.
Please look out for this notification and book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Prescription charges and exemptions
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).
The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
